Solar Upgrading Nonprofits (SUN)

Resonant Energy is excited to partner with the Providers’ Council and Essex County Community Foundation to support nonprofits and human service providers across Massachusetts as they explore solar as a means of reducing their operating costs and contributing to a clean environment for their constituents.

The program provides busy organizations with ongoing support to simplify the process and mitigate common barriers, such as funding availability, internal capacity, and technical knowledge.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • All nonprofits offering social services are eligible, as long as they meet our minimum size requirement (roughly 2,500 sq ft or the size of a large single-family home for a single site).

  • It is easiest to install solar on a building you own. In some cases, we are able to work with tenants who have roof rights, long-term leases, or strong working relationships with their landlords.

  • As part of our feasibility analysis, we explore both ownership and no-cost solar options with you. If you proceed with the ownership route, we can help you apply for grants to cover outstanding costs. If you proceed with a no-cost option, the system will be installed at no-cost to you.

  • Funding is first-come, first-serve until we run out, so the sooner you apply the better!
