When should a developer Engage with Resonant?

We recommend developers bring the Resonant team in once project designs are at 70% completion.

What does Resonant Provide for New Construction clients?

Early Stage Design & Planning

By bringing in solar experts in the early stages of a development project, you can ensure that your building is optimized for solar installation before designs are finalized. We help clients think through structural requirements, the electrical tie-in for the house panel, planning internal conduit runs, and internal space for inverters and other electrical equipment. We work with clients to figure out how much solar a site needs to cover common area usage or to qualify for common sustainability certifications like Passive House or E+ Green Building.

Additional No-Cost Financing Option

We recognize that installing solar PV is often not the highest priority for a developer and when other aspects of a project go over budget, the solar array is an easy item to cut to save money. To help avoid this outcome, we offer all clients a no-cost financing option so the solar PV design work can still go forward, but under a different contract. Purchasing a system directly will always produce a greater return on investment for the developers, but our no-cost option is still a great solution for projects that are strapped for cash.

Locking in Incentives Early

Having developed a specialty in new construction, we have been able to perfect our project timeline and coordination with the utility. We work with the utility to apply for interconnection before the meter is installed which allows us to lock in SMART incentives a year before construction begins, ensuring that clients can receive the highest incentives and tax credits available. Oftentimes when a solar project is left in the scope of a general contractor, these additional measures are not taken and the project simply receives whatever benefits are available at the time of construction, which can be significantly lower due to the decline in incentives and tax credits. In 2022, this timing is particularly critical as the federal Investment Tax Credit is expected to step down at the end of the year.

Overseeing Permitting (Building & Electrical) and Installation

We work with clients from the early design phases, all the way through permitting, interconnection, and installation. Our turnkey approach ensures consistency and accountability throughout the long timelines of new construction projects and helps clients avoid additional markups from their general contractors.
