Boston Affordable Energy Coalition

Our goal is simple: to build an accessible solar energy movement in and around BOSTON.

We want to help our community members save money, educate one another about the environmental & economic benefits of renewable energy, create green jobs, and build lasting relationships with one another. Our coalition consists of Codman Square Neighborhood Council, Second Church in Dorchester, Codman Square Neighborhood Development Corporation, Co-op Power, and Resonant Energy.

As part of the Codman Square Goes Solar initiative, Second Church in Dorchester has completed installation of a 25-kilowatt solar installation atop its 211-year-old church building. Alphonse Knight, a longtime parishioner and member of Co-op Power’s board of advisers, describes the program’s benefits in the above video.

Codman Square Goes Solar is seeking people interested in going solar! We will not turn people away because of flat roofs or credit score. Here are some of the benefits of participating in the program as a solar access host:

  • No cost to you
  • Save on your electric bill
  • Support the growth of local clean energy jobs
  • Build the resiliency and leadership of Codman Square
